Planning Art Concepts and Design
As the artist for this game I have been putting in effort into making assets for the player and their gun, the player's alien friend, collectables, rocks, and squirrels as well as a transparent for the mountain itself, platforms, trees, spaceship, and a skybox of sorts for when the player peeks around the edges. I also need to animate the player and their gun, the player's friend, the squirrels and collectables both idly and when in movement or reaction. I plan hand animate all movements.
For the player and their in-game friend I will be leaning into the style of little green men in alien-eqsue mountain climbing gear, wearing things that humans might use on a mountain but an alien wouldn't need. His gun is meant to propel him places and freeze objects in their place so making the gun something that stands out with its own animation will be key.
Alien trinkets are by far the most difficult concept to brainstorm. For now I believe I'll be making them pieces of alien tech or weaponry that has been dropped, or left behind by previous visitors that the player must clean up to finish the level.
